The\u00a0<em>S2<\/em>\u00a0is the main appliance in the\u00a0<em>TMJBDS<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0range and works by advancing the lower jaw and opening the bite, which has the effect of opening the airway. It also has numerous other features which help it to treat intracapsular TMJ disorders while improving breathing and myofunctional disorders. For better retention during sleep, the patient can use the mouldable version of the\u00a0<em>S2<\/em>\u00a0appliance (<em>S2M<\/em>). Progress to the\u00a0<em>S3<\/em>\u00a0when the patient\u2019s BHT reaches 45 seconds or more.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"slider__title\">S2 Design Features<\/h3>\n<p>The design features of the\u00a0<em>S2<\/em>\u00a0open the airway and improve TMJ symptoms, especially intracapsular disorders, in patients with mild to moderate BDS.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High sides<\/li>\n<li>Tongue tag and elevator<\/li>\n<li>Small breathing holes<\/li>\n<li>Optimum jaw positioning<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"slider \">\n<div class=\"slider__container\">\n<h2 class=\"slider__title\">Directions for Use<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>Myosa<\/em><sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0appliance is to be used for one to two hours each day, plus overnight while sleeping. The patient&#8217;s teeth may become slightly sensitive in the early stages of treatment. This is quite normal, however, if pain becomes excessive, decrease application time with the aim to build it back up once the appliance is accustomed to and sensitivity subsides.
