Piksters interdental brushes have plastic coated wire (safe for implants), durable bristles, individual hygienic caps for storage and are compatible with the Piksters Connect System.

Interdental brushes clean the tooth surfaces where your toothbrush can’t reach. This can be 40% of your teeth left at risk to plaque biofilm increasing your risk of gum disease and tooth decay. Where there is space interdental brushes are more effective at cleaning these surfaces than floss. Use daily for oral health BEFORE tooth-brushing – or at a different time of day – make it work in with your lifestyle.  Use brushes dry unless otherwise advised by your dental team.

How to hold and use interdental brush

Cleaning between teeth:

Insert the brush between the teeth at the gum line and twist softly. This makes access easier and extends brush life. Do not force the brush into narrow gaps. Move the brush back and forth smoothly to remove the coating, including food debris.

When cleaning the lower teeth, the brush should be kept at a slight angle from bottom to top, and when cleaning the upper teeth, it should be kept at an angle from top to bottom.

Access to the rear teeth becomes easier by bending the brush head, but do not bend at right angles!

For orthodontic appliances:

Interdental brushes are especially recommended for cleaning the gap between teeth and orthodontic wire arcs and for larger interdental spaces. It should be cleaned with soft in and out movements, avoiding excessive pressure on the wire arc. Select the size of the toothbrush according to the size of the gaps that need cleaning.

For implant prostheses:

Use the interdental brush to clean the implants and the bases of the prostheses that rest on them. Carefully place the brush between the two implants and clean with soft movements in and out.

For bridges:

Use a toothbrush suitable for the area covered by the bridge. Insert the interdental brush from the cheek to tongue for cleaning.

How to choose interdental brush:

A wide variety of toothbrushes of different shapes and sizes are made for different needs of patients. The main criterion that should be kept in mind when choosing an interdental brush is the width of the interdental spaces: it is extremely important to avoid pushing too wide a brush into a narrow gap. In addition, orthodontic appliances, prostheses, bridges, gingival contractions, and other special conditions must be considered. Therefore, a dentist should first decide on a suitable interdental brush, as he or she will be able to choose the product that is most suitable for your shape and size. Regular brush changes are also very important. A high-quality interdental brush with antibacterial bristles lasts longer without losing its good properties throughout its life.
